*Note: Since there are no current legalization efforts in NYC at this time, NYCFerrets.Com is being maintained primarily as an archival site for information on the ban and past legalization efforts. If we are made aware of new ferret legalization efforts for NYC, this site will resume more of its former functions and will inform people on the e-mail lists.

 

The NYCFerrets.Com email lists are only used to let people know about current legalization efforts or significant updates to the NYCFerrets.Com website. There are two email lists. One for New York City residents (or for people who know a NYC resident) and one for Non-NYC residents.

The Non-NYC Residents Email List is sent less frequently. Since there is a limit to what Non-NYC residents can do, this email list has generalized updates and does not go into as much detail about information that's only crucial to NYC ferret owners.

The NYC Resident Email List has more detailed information about legalization efforts, important changes in the law or local situations that may directly affect you, and more information about what you as a New Yorker can do to help legalize ferrets in the five boroughs.

  • In order to join the NYC Resident Email List, you need to know who your Council Member is. This is actually very easy to do! Click on the link below to find out the name of the Council Member for the area you live in. It takes less than 30 seconds. Who's my Council Member?

  • If you are not a NYC resident but you know someone who is who will write or send letters on your behalf, join the NYC Resident Email List. Use your email address but fill in the name of that person's Council Member.
